Product Standards: Christopher Guy products are renowned for both their beauty and quality. To avoid any risk of diminishing the heirloom qualities of our collections, most types of resins, injection molding, and plastics have been excluded from the materials employed in our merchandise.
“The vast Christopher Guy collection includes items that are hand-carved from a variety of solid hardwoods, hand-beaten metals and sculptured stone, created and finished in-house by our mastercraftsmen. While every effort is made to maintain uniformity, slight variations may occur. Such distinctions are regarded as the peerless character of each individual piece, which makes Christopher Guy’s products truly unique in a world of mass-produced conformity, and as such should not be construed as a flaw. We are proud of our products and have referenced wood and manufacturing techniques in general terms throughout the Catalogue/Website. Product composition and manufacturing techniques may vary by product and may change over time without notice. Final products may vary in color, finish, size, fabric, or other features.”
Upholstery Standards: All upholstery foam conforms to California Fire Code 117 and UK fire codes.
Frame Construction: Frames are made from the finest kiln dried hardwoods and engineered woods with all exposed wood surfaces finished by our master craftsmen. The joinery is double doweled and screwed with corner blocks to ensure quality and
longevity.
The seat frame is braced with webbing or a spring system, depending on the style and type of upholstered product. Basket weave lace webbing is used in flat, tight seats such as dining chairs. A sinuous spring system is used in tight
seat sofas and loveseats. An eight-way hand-tied spring system is used in most sofas with loose cushion tops.
Cushion Construction: Soft seat cushions are made with spring down construction. The inner-spring coils are individually tied and wrapped in a two-inch frame form that is made to conform to each individually designed piece of upholstery. The core is then encased in a 75/25 blend of down and feathers with Dacron polyester to create the desired comfort level.
Back Cushions and Throw Pillows: Many Christopher Guy upholstered items include throw pillows. The catalogue and website photos illustrate the pillow configuration of each item. Back cushions and throw pillows consist of a 75/25 blend of down and feathers with Dacron polyester. The addition of Dacron provides for a softer, more luxurious appearance and feel.
Decorative Mirrors: Our tailor-made mirror frames incorporate various glass edges, including Cut, Polished, Micro, Mini and Standard Bevel, according to the selected frame design. Convex mirrors are solely supplied with a polished edge, custom manufactured in polycarbonate.
Special Order Designs: Special Order Design requests should be sent to Client Services for approval. Line drawings and pricing will be provided for customer review and sign-off. Special order design items require a non-refundable 50% deposit and cannot be cancelled after the initial issue of the sales order. Custom orders will incur a customization surcharge based on the complexity and quantity of the item.
Changes in Finish: Each Christopher Guy product is offered with standard finishes as listed on our website. Selecting a CG finish that is outside of the standard options is classified as a - “Special Finish” and will incur a Special finish surcharge auto-calculated on the website.
Changing of finish outside of CG finishing and spot finish are considered customized request which will be reviewed on a case by case basis for orders totaling 12 items or more (surcharges may apply).
Upholstery Surcharges, Fees and Pricing Guidelines: Christopher Guy offers a wide selection of fabrics in an array of colors. Updated fabric selections and corresponding grades are listed on the Christopher Guy website at www.christopherguy.com/swatches/
When utilizing 2 or more different Christopher Guy fabrics (regardless of grade) on a single item, a 20% surcharge will apply. If fabrics selected are of different grade, surcharge will be based on the higher grade selected.
A fixed $90 fee per pillow will apply when a higher grade CG fabric is requested above that of the main upholstered body.
When applying COM and a Christopher Guy fabric to an item, the highest grade fabric pricing will apply.
Additional pillows and bolsters are available. Please refer to the sizes and prices below:

Christopher Guy Fabrics: A wide selection of Christopher Guy fabrics are available for upholstered products. These fabrics are also available by the yard. Please contact Client Services for fabric pricing and shipping information. Please refer to the Christopher Guy website for the most up-to-date fabric information. The website address is www.ChristopherGuy.com.
COM Fabrics: Customers may opt to use their own fabric on upholstered items.
All fabrics should be evaluated by the customer prior to shipment to identify if the chosen fabric needs to be backed. All COM fabrics must be backed, if needed, prior to shipment to Christopher Guy for upholstery.
Customers will receive specific tagging and shipping instructions that will facilitate the identification and application of their COM fabric. Please note that all COM, including stripes and textures, will be cut with the major motif in a vertical manner unless otherwise specified. All special instructions on the positioning or application of the fabric must be included on the COM tag, order and with the fabric shipment. • All fabric should be shipped on fabric rolls (not folded)
Fabric packages sent by customers are not opened or inspected until just prior to the start of upholstery. At the time of inspection, Christopher Guy reserves the right to refuse COM fabric sent for upholstery if the fabric is deemed unsuitable for the item to be upholstered. At that time the customer can reselect fabric or opt to have the item upholstered locally under their supervision. Pricing for the item will be adjusted accordingly.
The company shall under no circumstances be liable or held responsible for the loss, replacement or refund of COM (Customers Own Material) or COL (Customers Own Leather) for reasons including, but not limited to, loss or damage in transit, manufacturing defects, incapability for specific application, inconsistency of dye lots, failure to make full payment on an order, or take or accept delivery within the statutory 30 days of notice of arrival into the US distribution hub.
The customer can resend alternative replacement COM/COL at the customer's own expense, re-select CG fabric, or opt to have the item upholstered locally under their supervision. Pricing for the item will be adjusted accordingly. Return of damaged or rejected COM/COL is at the customer’s own expense.
Items with COM or COL are considered Special Order Design, there are no cancellations or refunds on these items.
As with all CG items, but specifically with special order items and COM / COL, production and delivery dates are estimates only and will vary.
COM Yardage Guide: All COM yardage requirements are based on 54” wide plain or textured fabric that requires no matching and is cut to the best possible yield consistent with good appearance and tailoring. For quilted COM please add 15% additional yardage. For fabrics measuring less than the standard width and/or with a fabric repeat, additional yardage will be required. Please supply the additional yardage based on the following chart, rounding up the next half-yard increment.

This chart is intended as a guide only and all yardage requirements are approximate. Yardage may vary due to fabric layout, the design to which it is being applied, and/or the quantity of items being ordered. In the event of unusual repeats or fabric design, please contact Client Services to determine if a full width sample is required to provide a more accurate determination of yardage requirements.
Application of Nail Heads: As part of the COM service, our upholstery department will apply nail heads supplied by customers. The surcharge incurred will depend on the product category and the complexity of the application. Please contact Client Services to obtain a quote for nail head application prior to sending in your fabric and nail heads as we may decline to apply nail heads on product that is not designed to accept this type of application.
COL Guide: Due to the irregularity of leather hides, sectional sewing or seams will be applied at the company’s discretion, as the size of the hides is often insufficient to cover the entire upholstery surface. We advise customers that our headboards, in particular, will have seams when covered in leather due to the large surface area to be covered. Button tufting on leather headboards will not be accepted unless pre-approved.
Repellency Treatment: If the customer requires soil repellency treatment, COM must arrive with prior treatment. Christopher Guy does not offer soil repellency treatment on COM or on Christopher Guy fabric offerings.
COM Fabric Tag: A COM tag and instructions will be provided via email upon order confirmation. A COM tag must be attached to each individual fabric roll shipped to Christopher Guy to aid in the identification of the fabric. A copy of the tag should also be emailed to clientservices.us@christopherguy.com.
Freight Policy: All Freight charges will be Collect/3rd Party. Title passes to the purchaser at the time the goods are picked up by the freight carrier at our distribution center.
All products are carefully packed and inspected prior to shipment. Refusal of damaged merchandise in no way relieves the purchaser of responsibility for payment for the goods. Customers are solely responsible for all domestic freight charges and freight claims in the event of any damage in transit.
Christopher Guy highly recommends that all shipments be inspected upon arrival. If visible damage occurs in transit, the purchaser must note the damage on the driver’s bill of lading and maintain a copy for records purposes. If concealed damage is found upon unpacking of the goods, the customer is to contact Client Services so that CG can review it further and investigate the matter thoroughly. Failure to report concealed damage within 15 days of the receipt of goods will result in the claim being denied by Christopher Guy.
